The Youngest One, The Fairest.

The mirror had always called Snow White the fairest. Snow White had loved it dearly and had carried it with her even after getting married to the Prince. She would rarely ask it 'Who is the fairest of them all' like the evil queen did, but she loved it dearly because it always spoke the truth.

The mirror thus stayed in the family even when Snow White gave birth to her daughters. There were four of them and all of them were beautiful. Three of them were however, unlike Snow, quite obsessed with the way they looked.  Whenever they asked the mirror the classic question ,that had been asked time and again ,'Who is the fairest of them all?' ,the mirror would choose the youngest daughter who had never even cared about how she looked and was just as fair as the others were or perhaps even a little less beautiful than they were.

The daughters tried to know what was so special about the younger one. Amongst them, she was the one who cared least about how she looked. She would always be busy playing with children in the street. She would even bring street animals home to keep as pets. She would never comb her hair and would never even bother being dressed like a princess. She would dress more like a pauper and would always  keep reading her mother's dusty old books. This would only lead to her looking rather dirty and her skin would be covered in dust. But, the stupid mirror still called her beautiful. They thought it was broken or was probably too old to judge due to the blotches that had formed over its shiny surface through years.

So, one day , the sisters decided to ask the mirror the real reason behind him calling the youngest one the fairest.
''Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" Asked the oldest.
The mirror gave the same answer it always had , it was the youngest one.

The second one then continued ,"Dear mirror , we want to know the reason behind your theory. Why is the youngest one the fairest? We do not see anything special in her."

To this , the mirror replied in its philosophical voice, ''I always speak the truth. When I say the youngest one is the fairest, she is indeed.''

The third one then said , ''Dear mirror, she does not even care about you. She never even asks you questions like we do, why would you still call her the fairest?''

The mirror then said,'' The youngest one is the fairest because she is wise, she is intelligent , she is kind and she is humble. Those are the very qualities Snow White possessed. The evil queen despite being beautiful on the outside could never be the fairest as she never possessed any of those qualities. It is true that the youngest one never asks me questions, but that is only because she does not need me to tell her she is beautiful; her confidence resonates due to her qualities, the same qualities which make her fairer than you despite being a little less appealing on the outside. ''

The sisters were left speechless after the mirror's answer. They then realized that true beauty actually lies within the very heart of a person and some one who believes they are beautiful doesn't need the world to keep on assuring them of the fact. They thus decided to change their ways and tried to become better people.
