Locally dorky

Intricately woven Right through the black cloth, Embroidered in gold  Are little labyrinthine patterns Of Flowers and stars. That is the best part Of that cotton sheet, The part for which You want it with your being.  Such delicate moments from life Are exactly what I wish to steal; One smile or a light laugh  On a loved one's lips, A teardrop that falls  Tracing the bump of your cheek. A small gesture of love,  A firm hand on my shoulder A light pat on the back  Or a tight hug while it lasts; A lazy day  As I blow my hot afternoon tea And unwind into dimensions  When I slowly take little sips; A few seconds of sunshine on my face When everything feels hopeful and rosy,  Even A big gulp of nervousness  For something long awaited and hazy.  These are the seconds  Like glowing threads of gold, The ones that I want to live Over and over again, Till they fill my soul with warmth Like fire set up On a damn cold morn.  For these will lead me  To the life

You see lumps of skin, I see brilliant curves.  You see bluish marks, I see strokes of perfection.  You see horrific scars, I see experiences painted on  You see bones and no flesh, I see hard work and no rest. You see fine lines that crinkle, I see a beautifully aged masterpiece.  You see a nest of bushy hair,  I see black glitter of warmth and care. You see me for my body, I see myself as the sculpture I am. You and me are both imperfect And perfect we needn’t be nonetheless. For all pieces of art are flawed, Yet we adore them all.  We love them for the truth they portray Without putting them on weighing scales   So, if we can keep a canvas framed, Why can’t we treat our bodies the same?

My family in front of the Universal Studios logo One attraction that we definitely couldn’t have missed on our visit to Singapore was the Universal Studios theme park.  Situated on the popular tourist attraction — Sentosa island, this theme park is a haven for movie buffs. The way it is designed is simply wonderful.  To welcome you, there is a logo of the famous movie studio at the entrance. The globe in the middle rotates and provides for a well know photo op.  The theme park is basically divided into seven parts. These are Hollywood, New York City, Ancient Egypt, Sci-fi city and Jurassic Park and Water world. It even consists of several exciting rides and roller coasters for those who love thrill. It can be the destruction that burns down buildings. It can be anger that ignites feuds. But in some rare instances,  It can be the warmth that seeps deep within our being. And that is what it did that moonlit night,  Under the stars with wood and kerosene,  Like our hearts, burning bright,  Music that made our souls sway, And never ending chatter Accompanied with delicacies  Like shared memories on a platter, Spicy, bitter, salty and sweet.  That is the night I want to eternalise; For while every moment has a little something missing, On that one night on the terrace with my confidantes, Despite all tornadoes in our respective lives,  The fire acted like a catalyst of benignity; And you know how in certain moments you love a little more?  That is what that moment did, It made us feel whole like we’ve never been. 

I walk into the field of roses With a smile that never falters; Thorns pierce my feet Yet you’ll never see my face alter.  As I walk deeper,  I am surrounded by death eaters, And they keep sucking at my soul now and then But I don’t let them feed off my shine. My glow keeps flickering But it never completely disappears. Then I notice I am walking on thin ice, It cracks, but I tread along without fears.  When, despite smiling through the suffering, Into the ice cold water I keep sinking, I realise I amn’t after all brave, But afraid to face the pain. So, for the first time in ages I let go And let my emotions take control.  I wave the white flag and I surrender to the ache, Let the tears flow, all over my face.  I wait for someone to pull me out, Patiently embracing insecurities that sprout; As I understand it’s okay to not be okay, I feel I can finally breathe, maybe even float over after my time. 

Yesterday I jumped in the well. Did the grapevine get you the news?  I saw unknown faces trying to help and drag me out, But I swear I didn’t see you there. I remember telling you I was hurt  Expressing my plight inside the black hole that kept sucking me up,  And you just kept mum, you left me to reel, You didn’t seem to be concerned then, nor are you yet.  I want to share with you my ocean of tears and happiness  But all we can get to is two feet water, shallow and dense.  And yet every-time I try confiding in you,  You keep telling me you’re there without trying hence.  You hold my hand and drag me to the deepest of forests And I feel we’re stuck there but together; However, you always seem to know the way out  And I keep going deeper, stranded, searching and waiting your return. With you my life is a time turner, We’re stuck in an infinite loop of beginnings, You apathy doesn’t let us reach the end, And I wonder if you’re generally indifferent or this is directed towards my being.

Ship exterior (Source: Wikipedia ) A glorious experience to enjoy if you happen to visit Singapore is the Genting Dream Cruise. It is a luxurious cruise line connecting several Asian destinations. We had selected one that travelled between Singapore and Malaysia. Since we had limited time on our hands, we had decided to go for a two night, three day trip. However, if you want to explore the cruise fully, I recommend you to book it for a longer time period. That was one experience that wasn’t so rosy as we had to wait in really long queues before the final boarding. Two islands sit Divided by but a limbo stick, And all my kith and kin pass through,  Coming out on the other side, they succeed. There I am in the queue, “You’re the next in view”, they spew; So, there I am bending down Under the stick but never through .  And I am now stuck in limbo  Quite literally I vow ; The ones behind me pass by  Without giving me so much as a second dekko.  One fine day while still being stuck  I see another one by me but, A stranger he be and I know not  Whether to stay aloof or let him hold my trust.  The stranger smiles up Touches my hand thus. Says one won’t pass without the other,  I promise come out will none or the both of us . But the next morn I wake, To see the stranger has left unfazed. Pushed forward in the cycle he was, Left me behind, got himself through and safe. Yet there I was still hung While thousand strangers flung; Stuck till they weren’t anymore,  In the end to leave
